Riding in Romania in autumn might be considered challenging and most of any projected dangers come form bad weather. However, our experience has thought us that September and October are the best months to hire a motorcycle and ride in Romania on your own or in a guided motorcycle tour in in Romania or/and in the Balcans area. 

First of all, nothing compares with the autumn colours: when leaves change from green to the most beautiful yellows, oranges, golds and reds, the whole landscape changes dramatically. The whole month of October is amazing and you can rent a BMW motorbike and go to see the Carpathian forests, ride with  the crisp air and fantastic fall scenery. 

Secondly, in the middle of the summer, most of Romania’s as well as Europe’s most important riding destinations can become quite crowded. If you leave prime destinations like Transfagarasan or Transalpina for autumn all the roads will be yours to enjoy.  Both Transfagarasan and Transalpina do not usually close before the beginning of November, therefore you can enjoy these spectacular routes without being surrounded by hundred of other tourists. 

Cooler weather is usually a relief after the summer heat waves. Say hello to that nice leather jacket that was left behind during your summer rides.

Most of the harvest festivals in Romania take place in autumn, so starting from big restaurants to small street vendors will have an abundancy of delicious products from local farmers at the most convenient prices.
